christmas day 1940 in london.

I started collecting some images on pinterest about 1940s christmas for work as I wanted to make some historically accurate christmas decorations.
as it happens, handmade christmas decorations don't seem to change much over the years - it's all about paper chains and lanterns from pretty early on.
still, the picutres are amazing - the ones above where people are celebrating christmas in shelters are heartbreaking.

  1. How clean and organized does that class look? You can't beat paper for simple and stylish decorations. Did you see the Origami stars over at Lakota's? Can't wait to try them.

    Merry Christmas

  3. Why is Santa wearing a paper bag on his head?

The boys have brought me home a whole bag of mangled paper decorations they've made at school - some things never change!
