me... a while ago

This is me a long time ago.... I would have been  maybe 21 or 22, and I know that because I remember buying that dress.
I really loved that dress!
I got sent this picture this morning, I don't even remember seeing it before.

my week

my week has been a mixture of being off sick and nice things.
I usually get a cold/flu type thing in November. I even had a clear week the week before last which I was hoping would be my sick week but sometimes it's hard to plan a bad cold. So the cold and acheyness didn't really fit in with my schedule, but when you've gotta lie down on the sofa with a blanket and a pile of teenage novels, you gotta.
Sadly I missed one of my yoga classes. I was mad about that, but I also couldn't move.
The class I missed was part of a yoga course I've been doing which is called 'yoga and you' all about trying to do a daily schedule and to learn more about yoga. We start with a half hour of yoga, then we have tea and have a little talk and then we have a relaxation at the end.
I was back in work on friday and still felt a little poorly and couldn't get warm.
Friday night I'd booked onto a candlelit yoga class which made me feel so much better... possibly because the room was heated and it was just so warm and lovely, with candles which were pretty and beautifully fragranced. We also had a forty minute relaxation at the end which was totally dreamy.
This morning I went to see Project Wild Thing which is a lovely documentary about getting children to play outside. Have you seen it?
And I also went to our newly refurbished local library and it looked so great! I'm so happy we've got our library back.... it's only round the corner and I love going there.
After my library trip I read Alexa Chung's book 'It' which I really liked.
It's getting colder but it's cosy inside and Sadie is sitting in her box.
Oh, and did you read about Bat Kid?
it's the sweetest story ever.x

we had a lovely little dinner out yesterday.
which consisted of three types of houmous.... pea, beetroot and the usual stuff.

bertie had a quinoa casserole type affair and a side order of roast potatoes.

and we polished it all off with green tea...

I also had some nutty chews.
they are vegan and kind of like snickers.

new books

autumn and winter is the time for reading.
I can't wait to read the Rookie Yearbook volume 2!
I've got two young adult books here - 'burn for burn' by jenny han and siobhan vivian and 'the miseducation of cameron post' by emily m. danforth.
That pretty looking book is called 'illustration school: Let's draw plants and small creatures' by sachiko umoto, which is the cutest thing ever.

It's been busy over here so there has been lots of coffee drinking.
This one is almond milk coffee with some maple syrup.
This morning I've been in quilt club and am feeling quite sleepy now. I was thinking of going out to do a little shopping, but it's so blustery and rainy here I think it's best to stay in and drink tea and read the papers....
Bert is at work and Sadie-cat is asleep in her new box (from our new dvd player) and I've got some cooking shows on in the background.
Anyhow, around here we have been....
carving pumpkins for halloween.
making halloween dinner. This is a pumpkin and cauliflower pie, sounds a bit weird.. but it was really good.
running super crazy busy art activities. Here is my outfit.
some of the art activities... pom poms, coasters....
my little spooky drawings which could be turned in to rings or finger puppets....
these are cute little pumpkins! I think they are called munchkins. I'm gonna roast 'em right up.
Last week Bert made the greatest lasagne. He is super talented when it comes to pasta....
that photo looks like we posed it so you could see the guitar slicer thing. We didn't.
and now Halloween is done it's time to think about christmas.
I've already given santa-bert my christmas list.
and you might be able to see at the bottom there that I've ticked that I have been good all of the time.
(i have).

books i read in october....

Here's what I read this October:
The Round House by Louise Erdrich
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
Dracula by Bram Stoker
I loved them all! Dracula was a re-read for me but I enjoyed it so much more second time round. The Round House was set on the 'res' and was fascinating.
The Goldfinch is a huge book! But it was so gripping that it didn't feel that long.
I would recommend all of these books and they are all perfect for blustery autumn days when you want to stay in the warm all cosy under a blanket.
I ramble on about them a little more over on goodreads
I also read this book  by Sarah Corbett called 'A Little Book of Craftivsim' - it's really lovely and lots of the projects I have been involved in are featured in it.
Have you read anything good?
